Insiders Allege There’s a Lot More to Mary-Kate Olsen & Sean Avery’s Relationship Timeline Than People Thought

Okay, so buckle up because we’re going all the way back to 2007 for this timeline. But before we do that, in case you missed it, on Memorial Day weekend, fans snapped photos of Mary-Kate Olsen hanging out with her former flame Sean Avery, per pics from DeuxMoi; causing many fans to be worried about her being seen with the controversial star.

Since then, sources told People that, despite persistent rumors, the pair are seemingly just close pals. They said, “Mary Kate and Sean have known one another for years. They have been in the same social circles in NYC and share many mutual friends. They spend their summers in the Hamptons, and hang out with the same crowds.”

However, insiders told InTouch Weekly that while they’re pals now, their timeline is quite messy.

For those who don’t know, Avery and Mary-Kate were briefly linked in 2007, when she was around 20/21 and he was around 26/27; and have been friends throughout the years.

However, insiders claim there’s more to it.

“Sean and MK used to party together, it wasn’t the healthiest relationship,” they said, adding that Olsen was “in love with him,” but “he was dating other women.” They added, “She went back to him several times and they remained friends in between.”

Now, it isn’t shocking that everything could be on the down-low, considering Olsen is so, rightfully, private about her personal life. All we do know is that after she and Avery were allegedly linked together, she went on to date Nate Lowman from 2008 to 2010, and then married Olivier Sarkozy, whom she was with from 2012 to 2021.

As for Avery, from 2009 to 2022, he was dating, and then was married to model Hilary Rhoda, who later obtained a temporary restraining order against him, claiming he was emotionally abusive and physically abused their son.
