Ewan McGregor & Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Covershoot Has Resurfaced the Awkward Moment the Cheating Allegations Started

Hollywood couples come in many forms: some wholesome, some sweet, and some with very, very messy beginnings. And if you weren’t aware of Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s relationship beginnings, then chances are you wouldn’t know about the cheating allegations. However, the two’s cover shoot has fans rehashing the past.

Okay, so in case you missed it, the pair were on the cover of Variety with the title being “Stronger Together.” It was a beautifully done shoot, but many on X, the app formerly known as Twitter, have pointed out some issues, and have called out the cheating allegations again.

One user reposted the cover shoot with the caption reading, “Omgg my cheaters did a photoshoot together ❤️❤️❤️,” with many pointing out the title, saying, “’stronger together’ is so funny in context 😭.” And if you don’t know the story, you may be like, “What is going on?”

So let’s take you back to the wildest moment: when McGregor thanked his estranged wife and new girlfriend Winstead in his acceptance speech at the 2018 Golden Globes.

You read that right, when he accepted the award for Best Actor in a Limited Series for his role in Fargo at the Golden Globes, he thanked his estranged wife Eve Mavrakis and Winstead.

“I want to take a moment to just say thank you to Eve who always stood by me for 22 years,” he said, then ending by saying, “and there would have been no Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead.”

McGregor was married to Mavrakis for 22 years: they first met on the set of Kavanagh QC, in 1995, marrying quickly after and welcoming four children into their family. Then May 2017 hit: the month he separated from Mavrakis, and was pictured kissing Winstead, and thus, the timeline grew incredibly fuzzy.

So yes, Winstead and McGregor started dating after meeting on the set of the show Fargo. They later married in April 2022, and back in 2021, they welcomed their son named Laurie. They remain quite private.
