In the past few years, there have been rumors about the state of Ivanka Trump and Melania Trump‘s relationship. Icy at best, some sources would say, especially during the White House years. However, there might be a new curveball in their relationship as insiders share why their feud has thawed a bit — and it has everything to do with Donald Trump.

After the former president was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business documents in his hush-money case, Ivanka and Melania have reportedly decided to put their issues aside. While we don’t know if this is a temporary or permanent situation, a Page Six insider revealed that the outcome of his most recent legal issue has “brought the entire family closer together than they have ever been.” The most notable new bond is the one between Donald Trump’s oldest daughter and his third wife. The source noted the “thaw” between them in a relationship they described as “sometimes chilly and tense.”

Rallying around Donald Trump has been important to the Trump family because  “Donald’s hurting inside and this guilty verdict has really taken a toll on him.” The insider divulged, “Words of support have overridden any past tension as the family comes together. The family has closed ranks and is behind the campaign. Friends say they haven’t seen the family on the same page as this since his inauguration years ago.”

Katie Rogers’s recent book, American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden, took a closer look at Ivanka and Melania’s difficulties during Donald Trump’s administration, which started after the first lady decided to stay in New York while her son, Barron, completed his school year. Ivanka decided to tackle the first lady’s duties without her stepmother’s permission, and that’s when the battle began. The women alleged became “locked in a quiet competition for press coverage” as the years passed.

Eventually, Melania had to establish “firm boundaries” with Ivanka once she arrived in Washington, D.C. because Donald Trump’s daughter had tried to become the first lady in “ceremonial ways,” per Michael Schmidt’s book, Donald Trump v. The United States. The recent softening of bad feelings could be an asset to the former president’s 2024 campaign, and it might inspire Ivanka to make that long-rumored return to politics a reality.
