It’s been two years since Olivia Wilde and Harry Styleswent their separate ways, but there may be a rekindled romance on the horizon. Maybe. The 40-year-old actress and director reportedly wants to give their relationship a second chance after the “Watermelon Sugar” singer’s recent breakup with Taylor Russell.
Wilde and Styles have been “in touch here and there,” according to a source, who divulged that “Olivia swears they still have a spark.” While they haven’t spoken since his split, she hopes he will reach out soon. “She’s playing it cool and waiting for him to make the first move — but she’d drop everything to meet up with him,” the insider added. If Wilde does repeat date the 30-year-old singer, she will likely have a lot of support from their mutual friends, including former late-night host James Corden. “So, there’s plenty of people who would cheer them on if they gave things another shot,” they said. “Olivia’s hoping this time apart was enough to make Harry see she’s the one for him.”
The former duo met on the set of Don’t Worry Darling which she directed and starred in during the pandemic. Their coupling reportedly caused a rift with co-star Florence Pugh, who was uncomfortable with the director hooking up with their star — it’s a power imbalance. Despite the alleged feud, Wilde had nothing but nice things to say about Pugh at the Venice Film Festival press conference in 2022. “Florence is a force; we are so grateful she is able to make it tonight [to the premiere] despite being in production. And we’re really thrilled we’ll get to celebrate her work tonight,” Wilde gushed. “I can’t say enough how honored I am to have her as our lead. She’s amazing in the film.”
However, their 10-year age gap was reportedly a factor in their breakup because they were at two very different stages of their lives. She had two children. Otis, 10, and Daisy, 8, from her relationship with Jason Sudeikis. Styles was “not ready to play daddy to her kids with Jason Sudeikis,” according to the New York Daily News. While her kids are a few years older, that blended family issue doesn’t magically go away — her children are a top priority.
