In case you haven’t been keeping up with Valerie Bertinelli recently, here’s the news we can’t stop talking about: she has a new man in her life! In fact, after sharing the news for the first time on The Drew Barrymore Show last month, Bertinelli and her boyfriend Mike Goodnough even went red carpet official this past weekend.
On June 7, the budding couple made their red carpet debut at the 51st annual Daytime Emmys Awards. For the occasion, the TV host wore a white flowy suit while the lifestyle writer wore a black suit with a matching button-down and tie underneath.
On the carpet, the pair gushed about each other. “He’s brilliant, he’s smart, he’s funny, he’s talented, an amazing writer, he’s kind, he’s thoughtful, he’s patient with me – God knows I need a little patience – and, I mean, just look at him, he’s hot,” Bertinelli told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s just really nice at this age to find someone that you really get along just all around.”
Goodnough also shared sweet words about Bertinelli. “What you see is what you get,” he told the outlet. “Valerie is all the things that her fans know [her] to be, she’s kind, loving, caring, sweet, she has a big heart.”
On TikTok, the pair even shared an adorable transformation video changing into their outfits for the red carpet. In the video, the two can’t stop giggling as they try to coordinate jumping at the exact same time.
When they finally succeed, they land in their red carpet-ready outfits. “We’re good,” Bertinelli says while holding his arm and walking offscreen. “I could never direct,” Goodnought quips.
“Sooo… tried to make one of those newfangled transition videos like the cool kids,” she wrote in the caption. “It went…well…like this 🤣😂 (we’ll never be the cool kids).”
In the comments, fans of the TV chef are loving how smitten she is. “Val you look like a teenager! You two are stinkin’ adorable 💯,” wrote one user. “Happy Valerie makes my heart happy!! You have such a beautiful and contagious smile ❤️❤️,” echoed another.

As a reminder, Bertinelli not only revealed her relationship in Barrymore’s show in May, but she also opened up about how their connection started.
“I started following him on Twitter back in 2016 or 17,” Bertinelli said. “He has an amazing Twitter following, he’s very funny, very acerbic, and political at that time.”
“I kind of got little butterflies when I started following him,” she added. “And then he didn’t follow me back for two years.”
But, when he did spot Bertinelli, the two started talking more and more. “And then he started DM’ing me once in a while and then started following my Instagram,” she recalled. “And then beginning of January we started DM’ing every day, then we started texting, then we started calling each other, talking for five hours a day, and then FaceTiming, and then I met him in New York a month ago and I’m just gone,” she admitted.
Seeing how smitten these two are with each other, we’re as obsessed with them as they are with each other!
