It’s official: Bridgerton fans will finally get to see who Benedict marries in season 4 of the hit Netflix show! And now we finally know who will play his love interest.
According to sources, Benedict’s love interest will be played by Yerin Ha, an Australian actress best known for her role in roles in the Paramount+ series Halo. Read more on her below!
After switching up the order of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton books to focus on Penelope and Colin’s love story in season 3, Netflix has confirmed that season 4 will focus on Benedict’s love story.
“The fourth season of ‘Bridgerton’ turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson),” Netflix’s official season four log-line reads. “Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
Benedict Bridgerton’s love story and his quest to find Lady in Silver is the focus of the third novel in Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton book series. Netflix, however, opted for a different route. Instead of seeing book three, An Offer From a Gentleman, play out, Netflix’s third season was based on book four, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.
Thus, in the most recent season, the show has introduced us to a new love interest for Benedict in the form of Lady Tilley Arnold, a wealthy widow who he starts a physical relationship with. But, who will Benedict actually end up with?
Who does Benedict marry in Bridgerton?
In Julia Quinn’s book series, Benedict Bridgerton marries Sophie Beckett, the daughter of an Earl who ends up working for the Bridgerton family, in Cinderella-like love story that will play out in season four of the Netflix show.
However, the show is known to deviate from the books so who knows what direction Benedict, who is played by Luke Thompson, will take in his quest for love on-screen?
Benedict Bridgerton marries Sophie Beckett at the end of the third ‘Bridgerton’ book
In An Offer From a Gentlemen, Benedict becomes entranced by a mystery woman who attends a masquerade ball hosted by the Bridgertons. She exits the ball, leaving behind a glove, before Benedict can catch her name. He becomes infatuated and vows to find her. What he doesn’t know is that Sophie is the illegitimate daughter of an Earl who is forced to be a servant to her stepmother and stepsisters after her father’s death.
Two years after Benedict first meets Sophie, a skew of circumstances lead to her becoming Violet Bridgerton’s maid, all without Benedict realizing she’s the woman he met at the ball.
The pair form a romantic connection all while Benedict is still hoping to reunite with the woman from the ball. Eventually (thankfully) he puts two and two together, realizing Sophie is the woman he has been looking for all along.
They marry and go on to welcome four children together: Charles, Alexander, William, and Violet.
Who will play Sophie Beckett in ‘Bridgerton’ season 4?
Variety reports that actress Yerin Ha will play Sophie Beckett. Ha was born in Sydney to Korean parents and studied acting in a drama school in Seoul, Korea as a teenager. She made her television debut with a recurring role in the American-French series Reef Break in 2019 before playing Kwan Ha in the Steven Spielberg-produced television adaptation of the video game Halo.
Neither Netflix nor Bridgerton’s production company Shondaland have commented on the claims. However, it seems like fans are pretty excited by the idea!
“Welcome to the Bridgerton family, Yerin Ha,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter). “Can’t wait to watch Yerin Ha as our lady in silver,” wrote another.
Will Benedict’s queerness be addressed in ‘Bridgerton’ season 4?
Over the course of the past three seasons, fans have seen Benedict explore his sexuality and, notably, even engage in a threesome with Lady Tilley and her male partner in season three. In a June 2024 interview with Variety, showrunner Jess Brownell hinted that Benedict’s possible queerness will be built upon as the show progresses.
“I knew that people out there had a feeling Benedict might be queer. And personally, it made sense to me,” she said. “He’s not just open minded, it’s that he seems like the type of person who wouldn’t be as concerned with gender — someone who might be more fluid and pansexual. He’s really attracted to someone’s spirit. And so it felt like we should make sense of those pieces that were in Seasons 1 and 2. That was what we were attempting to do with his storyline.”
As one fan on X pointed out, Benedict marrying a woman does not erase his queerness: “Benedict marrying a woman isn’t bi erasure, but saying that he MUST end up with a man IS bi erasure. we’re still bi even when we’re in straight presenting relationships.”
While we don’t know exactly how this might play out in season four, it seems like the showrunners are committed to exploring this part of his identity as the show continues.
