Since the very beginning, Billy Ray Cyrus‘ relationship with fellow country singer Firerose was filled with drama. After all, the two were rumored to be engaged only five months after Cyrus divorced his ex-wife of 28 years, Tish Cyrus. Since then, drama has followed the duo, and their recent divorce papers show it’ll only continue.
In documents obtained by E! News, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer cited “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” as the reason for their split in his filing in late May. Cyrus, who tied the knot with the Australian singer on October 2023, also requested an annulment instead of a divorce on the grounds that “consent to marriage was obtained by fraud.”
And while that may just be legal jargon to get an annulment, it’s safe to say Cyrus will now need to prove fraud in their relationship before it moves forward.
Firerose and Cyrus have yet to speak out about their separation on social media.
As a reminder, Firerose, who has collaborated on many songs with Cyrus since the beginning of their relationship including “New Day,” “Time,” “Plans” and “After the Storm,” celebrated their six-month anniversary in April.
“6 months ago I married this man,” she wrote on Instagram alongside pictures of their wedding ceremony. “Life isn’t always easy… but it sure helps when your husband’s also your best friend. Thank you Lord! 🤍”
Most recently, on Cyrus’ social media, the singer showed he wants to reconcile with his estranged daughter Miley Cyrus, 31, with a sweet throwback post.
“That’s @mileycyrus and me, surrounded by thousands of incredible fans at the [Country Music Awards festival],” he wrote in the caption next to a close-up of him holding the “Wrecking Ball” singer. “The next day, someone handed me this picture, and I wrote that poem right then on the bus.”
Underneath the photo, Billy Ray placed two pieces of paper that have a handwritten poem titled “The Moment.” Amid the scribbles and edits, Billy Ray penned a moving poem about the photo and him — “an armored shining knight” — and Miley — “the princess that he loved.”
“This picture’s way too happy to make me feel so sad / So let’s just end by saying / For the moment I am glad,” he finished.
Looks like the Cyrus family is either gearing up for more feuds or some long-awaited reconciliations instead.
