While Sienna Miller has kept her relationship with actor Oli Green fairly under wraps, her rare comments about their relationship prove they have quite a connection. And, most recently, she got surprisingly candid about how they first connected.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Miller looked back at falling in love with him after meeting at a Halloween party in 2021.
“I didn’t expect to take it seriously and then quite quickly, I fell in love,” Miller admitted. “I wasn’t like, ‘I’m gonna get a younger boyfriend.’ It was more, ‘F–! Why are you young? That’s so annoying.'” As a reminder, Miller is 42 years old while Green is 15 years her junior at 27.
According to Miller, however, it’s precisely Green’s age that made him the perfect match for her. “There is a difference in the way that generation of men respect women,” she told the outlet. “It’s specific to him, he is very wise and well-adjusted, but I do believe it’s also that generation. They have grown up with a slightly more level playing field. I see it in his female friends as well as in the men.”
Comparing that to the men she grew up with, Miller thinks there’s a stark difference. “I could talk myself into all sorts of shapes to make the men in the room feel comfortable,” she said. “And God forbid that you offend a man’s ego by rejecting them.”
“It was a slightly belittling time,” she said of growing up in the ’90s. “It’s interesting, being older now, and having been raised in that moment, learning from people who are younger about how clear they are in their boundaries, having that self-assuredness and self-advocacy, having ‘no’ in the repertoire in a way that we just weren’t encouraged to have.”
Back in December, Miller shared similar gushing thoughts about Green and their connection to Vogue. “I would imagine [our age gap] would be complicated for anyone to get their head around, but there’s been nothing but love and joy,” Miller, who welcomed her first baby with Green in January, told the outlet.
“I don’t think you can legislate on matters of the heart,” she continued. “I certainly have never been able to.”
