While Margot Robbie and her husband Tom Ackerley have been quite private over the years, fans got to know them much more last year during the Barbie press tour. And, among the red carpet appearances and the Variety’s Power of Women event in which Ackerley read out Robbie’s speech because she had lost her voice, fans fell in love with them as a couple.
Pulling back the curtains one more time, Ackerley, who’s been married to the Australian actress since 2016, talked about his relationship with the Oscar-nominated actress, both on and off set.
“It’s seamless,” Ackerley told The Sunday Times about how they separate work from pleasure, per People. For those who don’t know, Ackerley and Robbie work together as producers at LuckyChap Entertainment, a production company they co-founded alongside Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr. “We don’t have a toggle on, toggle off,” Ackerley explained. “It’s all become one thing.”
In fact, according to Ackerley, their connection, both personally and professionally, means they essentially spend “24 hours a day” together. How adorable, right?
Also in the interview, Ackerley admitted to the one thing he and Robbie argue about: chocolate. According to the British filmmaker, they often disagree on “whether Tim Tams or Penguins are better.” As a reminder, Tim Tams are Australia’s signature chocolate biscuit while Penguins are the British equivalent.
And while their one argument might get heated, after all Tim Tams and Penguins are a matter of national pride, we’re glad that’s the main thing they disagree on. Talk about a match made in heaven!
“[He] feels like an honorary Aussie, Margot feels like an honorary Brit,” Ackerley added.
It’s safe to say that the more we know about Robbie and Ackerley’s relationship, the more we love them together. May another LuckyChap production be in the works soon so we can see them on red carpets all over again!
