Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly giving each other the silent treatment right now, but that isn’t stopping the 55-year-old superstar from working through her feelings. The “Jenny From the Block” singer might be going through the five stages of grief amid her split from her two-time ex — and it seems like she’s in the anger phase.
Lopez is “furious,” according to a Page Six source, and who could blame her? She’s back in the same spot she was in 2004 during their first breakup. “He has humiliated her. He was the one who initiated getting back together,” they added. Affleck romanced her with emails while she was filming Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic in February 2021, per TMZ.
The love letters were sent at the tail-end of her engagement to Alex Rodriguez, who had his own scandal going on. The retired baseball player had slid into the DMs of Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy. At the time, Lopez was reportedly swooning over Affleck’s ability to “own her heart” with his romantic words — she was all-in by then. Hook, line, and sinker. She bought into their second chance at love and even created a movie musical and documentary about it for Amazon Prime earlier this year, sinking $20 million of her own money.
Now, she’s left “humiliated” because “she made a big deal that he’s the love of her life.” The Page Six insider noted, “They just had two weddings two years ago. This is some kind of a record, they’re not young kids.” Still, the writing seemed to be on the wall when the Oscar winner took issue with his love letters being handed over to songwriters for her 2024 album, This Is Me… Now.
“I was like, ‘You’ve been showing all the musicians all these letters?’” he recalled in the Greatest Love Story Never Told documentary. “And they were like, ‘Yeah, we call you Pen Affleck.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God.’” Lopez has always been a romantic at heart, but she feels burned by Affleck all over again. It’s a story that was supposed to have a fairytale ending, but instead, it’s history repeating itself.
