Gwen Stefani has reportedly reached a new level of friendship with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, and Blake Shelton might not like that idea. However, it seems to be their 18-year-old son Kingston’s budding career that might be bringing an end to their frosty feud.
Kingston is already spreading his wings in the music industry working with people outside of his talented parents and making “legit, Justin Bieber-quality singles”, according to Rossdale, who told US Weekly in September 2023 that “he has such a great ear for melody.” With Kingston, and now Zuma, 15, showing their interest in the music business, it has forced Stefani and her ex to be near each other.
“Everyone knows Gavin has his problems with Gwen and Blake,” a source revealed. “It’s not an easy situation because of all the tension lingering among the three of them, but he’s more than happy to let Kingston establish himself and hopes it breaks down some of the awkwardness between him and Gwen.” Still, not everyone is comfortable with the thawing relations.
With Stefani “getting along well” with Rossdale, it reportedly bugs Shelton a bit. “For Blake, it tugs at his insecurities.” Their new level of comfort “makes Blake worry.” The insider seems to think that Shelton is worried about Rossdale’s presence after he and Stefani had some bumps in the road in their marriage earlier this year. But the “Just a Girl” singer revealed to Nylon in April that their love is impenetrable.
“When you’re in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us. You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship—I mean, a week ago we were getting divorced again or something,” she explained. “It’s just lies. The truth is the truth, and we know what that is…” And the heartache she experienced at the end of her marriage to Rossdale — he allegedly had a long-term affair with their nanny — isn’t something she wants to go through again.
“Everybody knows what happened next… I obviously know the date,” she revealed to Harper’s Bazaar in 2016. “It was the beginning of hell. Like six, seven, eight months of torture, trying to figure out this big secret.” It’s doubtful Stefani would ever want to put herself through that trauma again. Shelton’s love for her conquers all, so he has no rival in Rossdale. Still, Shelton should embrace the evolving co-parenting relationship because it helps everyone involved in the long run.
