Trisha Yearwood has been silent about husband Garth Brooks‘ legal situation until now — she is standing by her man. The 60-year-old country singer didn’t make a public comment, but she did show her solidarity with a very subtle move on Instagram on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Yearwood posted an intimate snapshot of them singing onstage together on her social media page. (You can see the photo here.) They each had their eyes closed as they passionately performed, Brooks with a guitar in his hands and Yearwood holding a microphone. She turned off the comments on the post and wrote in the caption, “Love One Another. #Vegas.” It was a simple, yet powerful, statement about where she stands with the 62-year-old legend — she isn’t abandoning him during his legal case.
On Oct. 3, Brooks was named in a complaint by the couple’s former hairstylist who claimed that she was raped by him in 2019. She was referred to as “Jane Roe” in the legal documents, according to Us Weekly, and alleged that sexual harassment eventually led to a sexual assault. Brooks reportedly sent her unwanted sexual text messages, exposed himself while she was around, and even suggested “having a threesome” with his wife. Brooks was aware that the suit was going to be filed and tried to head off her legal claims in by filing his own suit in Mississippi, where the hairstylist now lives.
The defendant’s allegations are not true,” the “Friends in Low Places” singer’s claim read. “Defendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiff’s well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to ‘publicly file’ her fabricated lawsuit.”
Brooks has not ignored the headlines surrounding him and publicly denounced what was happening in his personal life on Oct. 3. “For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face,” he said in a statement to Newsweek.
Yearwood, who married Brooks in 2005, gushed about her husband in December 2021 to SheKnows. “Garth is much more of a thoughtful person than me,” she said. “I think he wakes up 24/7 thinking about how he can make my life better, and I think about him maybe 20 hours a day. The rest of the time I’m thinking, ‘How do I make myself better or more grateful for everything he does?’” The couple has always presented a united front, and despite the seriousness of the allegations, Brooks and Yearwood are sticking together.
