Anna Nicole Smith, model, Trimspa spokeswomen and mother of a newborn child died today in Florida after collapsing in her hotel. It’s a tragic end to to a series of controversies that has dogged the star since she first became pregnant with her latest child and subsequently through the death of her grown son, Daniel.
Smith reportedly was discovered by a bodyguard in her Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, just north of Miami. She was unconscious and non-responsive. Her bodyguard performed CPR, followed by the Hard Rock medical team, and then by emergency personal on the way to the hospital. Witnesses at the hospital reported seeing Smith’s body covered head-to-toe, most likely signaling she was dead on arrival. The hotel’s receptionist received a call shortly after 1:30 p.m. local time that there was an emergency in Smith’s room and she was eventually pronounced dead at 2:49 p.m. Her five-month-old daughter Dannielynn was not with her at the time. Born Vickie Lynn Hogan in Texas, the woman became internationally known as Playboy’s Playmate of the Year 1993, but soon after that honor, the tabloid regular made news with her marriage to billionaire J. Howard Marshall. After his death, her fight for her piece of the estate even reached the U.S. Supreme Court (where she won). After fading from view for a number of years, Smith came back two-fold. With her own reality series on E! and through her position as the newly-svelt spokeswoman for TrimSpa. The diet company is currently involved in multi-million dollar lawsuits with claims involving health risks from the product’s use. The company’s spokesperson issued a statement about the loss of Smith, but did not address reports of potential health hazards that arise from the use of their product. Smith was 39 years old.
