The Hollywood stars out at the Beverly Hills Hilton

The Turner broadcasting family of stars came out last night in Hollywood and SheKnows was in the middle of the posh party. Enjoying peach martinis with the company of CNN anchors to award-winners Holly Hunter, Kyra Sedgwick, Jane Kaczmarek, super TV producer Stephen Bocco, ER vet Gloria Rueben and entertainment icon Tony Curtis is not a bad way to spend Friday night.

Packing TNT

It was a surreal scene at the Beverly Hills Hilton in the midst of the gathering of the collective Television Critics Association. Eight-foot network beach balls tossed in the giant fountain in the center of the circular open air courtyard. As a fantastic Southern California sunset enveloped the evening, the white tables became illumined in the softest shades of pastels.

The sunshine of Soledad

Stay tuned to SheKnows for our interviews with many in attendance, including an in-depth conversation with CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien, who gives us an inside look at her riveting upcoming special, “Black in America” airing Wednesday, July 23 at 9 p.m. (EST and PST) on the news titan.

While the DJ spun Maroon 5 featuring Rihanna, the sentiment of “If I Never See Your Face” was a distant thought amongst a pair enjoying finger sandwiches and fresh sushi — “Blue Collar Comedy” star and namesake of his own show, Bill Engval, laughed heartily with his co-star and “Saturday Night Live” alum Tim Meadows. The chemistry those two emit on television translates off screen as well.

The King of politics

The most enjoyable moment for this reporter was the ten minutes that political expert and CNN senior political contributor, Jon King spent discussing a range of topics from the matters of the day to his early days at University of Rhode Island. Frank and lighthearted at the same time, King is the model of why the CNN political team continues to dominate in the ratings and provide Americans a model for political journalism at its highest.

For one, the veteran newsman is as electrified about the current presidential campaign as the American public. “For us in this business, this year has been extraordinary,” King said.

Check back with SheKnows in the coming days for the full features on my conversations with King, Gloria Reuben on her new show “Raising the Bar,” Soledad O’Brien on “Black in America,” and on Monday, the full interview with “Saving Grace” star, Academy Award-winner, Holly Hunter and our review of her show’s premiere.
