Tropic Thunder
Ben Stiller’s contribution to the 2008 summer movie has the potential to steal some of “Pineapple Express'” comic thunder.
“Tropic Thunder” also stars Jack Black and summer movie king Robert “Iron Man” Downey, Jr. The comedy that finds a group of movie stars becoming military men in the thick of a war might just become a hit.

If Stiller’s recent films are any indication that is a safe bet. The actor’s character name alone is worth the price of admission. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Tugg Speedman.

Vicky Christina Barcelona
Woody Allen returns with his new millennium muse, Scarlett Johansson, in their fourth film together.
Known for pulling casts together that any filmmaker would be envious, “Vicki Christina Barcelona” also stars Penelope Cruz, Rebecca Hall, Javier Bardem, Chris Messina, Patricia Clarkson and Kevin Dunn.

This summer has brought the single-word moniker “Hancock,” the two-worded title “Iron Man” and now, at a welcomed other end of the spectrum where romance and plot interweve is a three-word name, “Vicki Christina Barcelona.”

Mirrors
Kiefer Sutherland drops his Jack Bauer persona for this thriller that also features Amy Smart.

For the audiences who have missed their Kiefer while the strike closed “24” for an entire season as well as a little spook in their summer movies, “Mirrors” will find you right at home.

Normally a battle ground of scary beings from above and below, this summer has been on the mild side. Perhaps our favorite CTU agent can change that with “Mirrors.”

Sutherland is a policeman who now has to make his living as a security guard.

The title plays directly into the story as Kiefer’s security guard realizes there are more to the mirrors where he works than simple reflections.

There are deep and dark secrets.

The film is directed by Alexandre Aja of “Hills Have Eyes” fame, think it will be scary?

Next up, Luke Wilson is back and a new Star Wars?
