Morgan Freeman was badly injured in a auto accident late Sunday night, August 3. The Academy Award-winning actor was driving in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, near his home when a car struck his — sending the vehicle rolling multiple times down a hill before finally stopping.
The actor was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Tennessee where he is listed in serious condition. The 71-year-old Freeman had an unidentified female in the car with him, and her condition is currently unknown.
While now Freeman is back in the Memphis area, where he was born, that visit is likely not in the manner to which he would have chosen.
Freeman is currently on the big screen in the enormously successful Batman: The Dark Knight, which is well on its way to crossing the $400 million plateau. He was also in another summer hit, Wanted with Angelina Jolie.
Audiences also recognize the actor from his star turns in Million Dollar Baby, The Shawshank Redemption and The Unforgiven. Early in his career, Morgan Freeman also starred on PBS’ The Electric Company kiddie TV series — see him in the show here!
Everyone here at SheKnows wishes Freeman a speedy recovery.
