Ellen DeGeneres has women everywhere cheering. Covergirl announced today that the comedienne and talk show host is the cosmetic giant’s face of beauty.
DeGeneres, 50, is in some heady company with past CoverGirls including Rihanna, Drew Barrymore and Christie Brinkley.
The fact that CoverGirl has made a 50-year-old, openly gay woman their face of the future is an astounding triumph for women from all walks of life.
On today’s show DeGeneres announces slyly about her new gig. When she was taping the show, the announcement had not yet been made. But with internet rumors swirling, DeGeneres felt comfortable letting her fans know a little bit about the truth.
“I am here to set the record straight right now. I am not pregnant. It just turned out to be a bump. I went and had it checked out,” Ellen says on her show.
“I am the new face of CoverGirl,” Ellen quips before striking a pose.
“That’s the first thing they teach you when you’re a CoverGirl.”
Back to seriousness of the accomplishment, DeGeneres then became humbled by the appointment. “I am very, very excited about it. It’s a very cool thing, I’m honored and the photo shoot was ‘easy, breezy, beautiful … CoverGirl.'”
