Expectations are high for High School Musical 3 as it lands in theaters nationwide October 24.
The cast of High School Musical 3 each had 3 minutes to give 3 things about the film they wanted SheKnows readers to know.
Zac Efron as Troy Bolton
1. What High School Musical represents
What we wish high school was like with kids who have the ability to stand up for themselves and be brave and follow their own dreams. It’s pretty flattering to be a part of that bringing that to everybody.
2. Life lessons
In the third movie they’re dealing with adult problems. Like where he’s going to college. That’s a real big decision for anyone. They’re all growing up, it’s about their futures. What do you do after high school? It doesn’t stop here.
3. Big screen dreams
I’m very excited for High school Musical 3 to be on the big screen. Because the first two movies you saw the relationships development. We had some fun adventures, but I think in this third film, this is what we’ve been waiting for…what it should have been from day one, you know? It feels great. It’s like we earned it. We’re just regular kids who made High School Musical and it’s progressing. I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s an honor to be a part of it.
It was a dream come true to hear that they even wanted me to come back for the third movie. I wanted to make sure it was done right. When they showed me the script, it looked perfect. I couldn’t’ think of a better way to end the Wildcats high school careers. I was jazzed. I’d gone off done some different things. After you leave it for a while, you really crave that feeling to be with your friends again and be creative on a daily basis. It’s just rocks your world. It’s so much fun to sing out what you feel with your friends. There’s something about this movie and these characters, we just have a blast every day.
Vanessa Hudgens as Gabriella Montez
1. Graduating on screen and off
It was hard. Not only are we graduating in the film but we are graduating from High School Musical. Knowing that was so emotional. We did the finale number and when the curtain closes on it and we turn around we started balling our eyes out. All the girls, of course the guys were trying to be all tough and not cry (laughs). It’s really sad.
2. Missing the HSM world
I’m going to miss everyone. Not every movie you get to experience that we’ve had. The fact that we’ve gotten to do this for three years and we’re not sick of each other and we still love each other is amazing. We’re so close. I’m really going
3. Finding Zac Efron
It’s so much to be able to work with Zac. We met each other on the first movie and now we’re on the third. We know each other so well that we’re so comfortable with each other. We’re not afraid to do anything with each other. He’s such a great guy and he’s so good to me. He’s so fun to be around, especially when I’m down, he cheers me up.
Ashley Tisdale as Sharpay Evans
1. Sad to leave Sharpay
I remember after the first movie telling my mom that I would really miss being Sharpay. I had no idea we would be in for two more movies. It has been such a part of my life – like she’s always been there – it’s going to be really hard (pauses) to say goodbye.
2. Finding a BFF in Vanessa
She’s so beautiful and such a great friend. We have so much fun on and off set. It’s kind of funny because our characters don’t like each other in the movie. It’s fun to play that. Hopefully I’ll get to do another movie with her again.
3. Zac Efron sets a standard
Zac has grown up a lot. He’s always been so good. I really look up to him. He’s very serious and professional about everything. Troy is just amazing. The basketball, the dancing, the singing, watching him go through it all – he’s so driven. He’s really a great actor and one of my best friends.
Monique Coleman as Taylor McKessie
1. Part of a phenomenon
It’s really crazy that this movie is not only a phenomenon in America, but globally. It has reached so many people and not just kids. It’s inspired young people to get involved with music and art, to feel like they could do things that they’ve never done before.
2. Inspiring the young
That’s always been my dream as a person and as an actress. I’ve always wanted to be a apart of something that moved people. That inspired and changed lives. It may sound cheesy, but High School Musical has changed a lot of people’s lives.
3. Decisions the characters must make
It’s about what college to go to. To stay in your relationship, or leave friends behind or stay…those are tough choices we all make.
