The main person of interest in the murders of the mother, brother and nephew of American Idol winner Jennifer Hudson may walk if not charged with the killings by the end of November 10.
William Balfour, the husband of Hudson’s sister, is being held on a parole violation pending murder charges on which cops say he is a prime suspect.
Balfour has a hearing November 10 to determine whether the evidence in the Hudson murders constitutes a violation of his parole in his 1999 conviction.
Hudson’s mother and brother were found shot to death in the family home outside of Chicago. Her young nephew was found dead several days later slumped in the back seat of an SUV, shot twice in the head.
Monday’s parole hearing will be to determine if there is enough evidence to show Balfour has committed a crime in violation of his parole and should be held in jail longer. If it is proven otherwise, he could be set free.
Balfour’s current girlfriend — he and Hudson’s sister were estranged — told police that he told her he was involved in the slayings.
