10 best songs of 2008 for fearless females

When you want to let loose, nothing helps like a great song. In 2008, there were dozens. SheKnows gives you the top 10 for fearless females.

10. Katy Perry, Up N Down

Sure, everyone is still talking about I Kissed a Girl, but for pure unadulterated fun, there is nothing like Katy Perry’s third single, Hot N Cold. Currently blazing up the charts, Perry’s future looks brighter than ever thanks to a successful second single, UR So Gay and of course, her ode to Scarlett Johansson, I Kissed A Girl.

9. Coldplay, Viva la Vida

Getting ready for work and Coldplay’s Viva la Loca pumps the heart and gets the blood moving. Stuck in traffic? When the track appears on the radio, the listener becomes lost in a melodic mastery. Coldplay scored a huge hit with their first single from their latest CD, but they also did much more. Viva la Vida transcended music, culture, genres and politics to be embraced by a world split by war and eager to turn a corner into hope.

8. Leona Lewis, Bleeding Love

Sure, the subject matter of Bleeding Love is deeply emotional and one does not immediately think fearless fun! But, you have to admit, have you ever heard this track out with friends, where you did not witness a group of females (maybe yourself!) bursting into Lewis’ compelling chorus as if their life depended on it. If there was a true heart-breaking fearless female track of 2008, Leona Lewis nailed it.
