Live TV is harder than it looks, especially when you have to cool something edible in only two and a half minutes. That’s what the contestants on Top Chef had to do last night in an episode that mangled their usual format. This time around, the top dishes were judged on live TV (tricky since this was all filmed months ago) and the poor bottom three had to go to sleep to await their fate the next morning. As is apt to happen, someone threw someone else under the bus and that reminds me…
Stylista! I’m beginning to think there’s something wrong with Kate. Pointing out the flaws of your co-workers isn’t the way to gain favor with the boss and this time it backfired on her and Kate was sent packing. Kind of a shame in that I think she had real talent for this, she just needed an attitude adjustment. At this point, I’m 100% behind Ashlie. She’s got style, that girl.
Up at two in the morning, I popped on Life and that show, despite the grim theme, always makes me smile. This time Crews and Reese had to investigate the death of a sheriff’s deputy on an Indian Reservation. There were some very nice, well-rounded characters in here. I liked the female reservation deputy and the chief suspect. Very tense hour, rounded out by Crews’ usual antics – oh and that bizarre sex thing between Reese and the Captain. I’m not sure how I feel about that.
I do know that I’m not jumping up and down for tonight’s TV schedule. Glad I still have a couple of Law & Orders on the DVR.
Tonight On TV – Wednesday, December 4
CBS begins with Survivor: Gabon, then it’s a salute to old Las Vegas on CSI and finally, college students are dying from the bends on Eleventh Hour.
On ABC’s Ugly Betty, Betty learns the art of the con while, then it’s Grey’s Anatomy, and finally Barbara Walters talks to The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2008.
The CW goes with reruns of Smallville and Supernatural on Thursday from now until mid-January.
FOX also goes with reruns, in this case, two episodes of Kitchen Nightmares.
There are some news laughs mixed with the old on NBC. My Name is Earl is new with repeats of Kath & Kim and The Office, then Liz goes to a reunion on 30 Rock with ER finishing the night.

MTV has a new 50 Cent: The Money and the Power, VH1 has a new dose of Celebrity Rehab and Discovery explains How Stuff Works.
