Marriage wasn’t a sitcom for Full House alum Jodie Sweetin, the actress who played Stephanie Tanner alongside the Olsen twins on the popular sitcom. News arises that Sweetin is divorcing her husband of 16 months.
New court papers shed light on the quickly deteriorating marriage of the couple, who has a seven-month-old daughter, Zoie. “Our house is in foreclosure, our water has been shut off twice. Currently, all of our other utilities are overdue,” the actress says in papers filed Nov. 19 in an Orange County, Calif., court.
Husband Cody Herpin, who worked as a transportation coordinator in the film industry, stopped working after the wedding and has not brought in a paycheck since. “(He) kept finding one excuse after another for his failure to even attempt to find employment,” Sweetin alleges.
But Herpin claims that arrangement was agreed upon by both of them to provide care to Zoie. “I was the stay-at-home dad, my job was taking care of Zoie,” he claims.
The couple was living off of Sweetin’s residuals from Full Houseand small parts in other projects she’s had since the show ended in 1995.
Sweetin has filed for joint legal and physical custody. A hearing, including a mediation session, has been scheduled for February 9.
Things could be looking up for Sweetin, however: Candace Cameron Bure, who played Sweetin’s sister DJ on the hit show, says John Stamos is planning a continuation. She told Ok! magazine, “John has been working on a semi-remake of Full House. I know it would involve me and Jodie Sweetin. We would revive our characters, but today as young women.”
