24 is back! Feel the crackle in the air? No, it’s not the winter weather. It’s Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer electrocuting a suspect in order to get him to spill his guts. 24 has returned and it’s going to be another very long day for the agent (who presumably has a pretty nice rest of the year).
I was a 24 fan from the beginning but gave it up these past few seasons. Well, now I’m back because one of my favorite characters has returned and this time he’s one of the bad guys!
After watching last night’s two-hour season premiere, I’m hooked with Kiefer Sutherland and the new season of 24.
Going back to Friday, Numb3rs blew me away as Don turned to his religious teachings in order to deal with an enemy from his past. Tense, exciting, and still a thinking gal’s show — Numb3rs never fails to impress me.
Friday was also the series ender of Stargate Atlantis. That’s right, the series finale. It is no more (brief sob). Not a bad note to go out on but I was hoping for something a bit bigger. Lots of payoff for fans who have watched since day one and they went out letting the characters do what they do best — save the world from the Wraith! My Friday nights will never be the same.
Monday, however, is looking pretty good.
Tonight On TV — Monday, January 12
Fox should win the night with Part Two of their huge 24 season opener. Washington, DC will never be the same when Sutherland’s Jack Bauer is finished.
ABC goes the reality route, too, with The Bachelor and True Beauty.
CBS counters with comedy: The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, and Worst Week. Then it’s a new episode of CSI: Miami.
CW has new episodes of Gossip Girl and Chad Michael Murray directed tonight’s episode of One Tree Hill (check out the clip below!). NBC will try to hold on with a new episode of Superstars of Dance followed by Momma’s Boys.
Over On Cable
ABC Family has The Secret Life of the American Teenager and then it’s the season premiere of Kyle XY.
E!’s Fashion Police take a look at the clothes from last night’s Golden Globes.
VH1 has the first season finale of Real Chance of Love.
MTV goes with Bromance, The City and new Daddy’s Girls.
News And Notable
Girls Next Door star Bridget Marquardt is moving to the Travel Channel for a new series that looks at the world’s best beaches.
Shiri Appleby, Kristoffer Polaha and Kerr Smith are all on board for a CW pilot about a teenager in search of her biological father.
Stephanie March (DA Cabot) is returning to Law & Order for a six episode arc.
Faye Dunaway will make a guest appearance on Grey’s Anatomy.
Hilary Duff will star in a new NBC comedy called Barely Legal about an 18-year-old who passes the Bar.
Tony Shalhoub says he’s ready to put Monk to rest and move on.
Not so for the Fox TV series ‘Til Death which just got handed a new season order. That makes absolutely no sense to me as they went on hiatus months ago and haven’t even finished this season, right?
ABC is in talks to bring back Who Wants to be a Millionaire. But in this economy, I think they could make it with Who Wants to Earn a Decent Living.
