Madonna and Guy Ritchie have been playing nice and spending time together after daughter Lourdes begged them not to be “mean.”
Madonna and Guy Ritchie, who divorced this winter after almost eight years of marriage, spent time together last Tuesday at Madonna’s New York apartment — but don’t think for a minute that means they are reconciling. They only met because 12-year-old Lourdes has pleaded with them to remain civil.
A source said, “They’re working very hard to have an amicable divorce, because Lourdes came to them begging, ‘Please don’t be mean to each other.’ Then she told them she wanted everything to be as friendly as possible.”
Lourdes reportedly wants as friendly a family as a broken one can be for the sake of her brothers, Rocco and David — and it seems to be working.
The source continues, “Madonna and Guy are getting along better than they have in over a year. Their separation has had a positive effect on their relationship as parents.”
While Guy has been busy shooting his new Sherlock Holmes flick, Madonna has sought comfort from friends like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kabbalah, which is also given credit for the thawed relations.
“Kabbalah doesn’t encourage divorce,” says a friend of Madonna.
“So her friends in the religion are pushing for them to reunite or, at the very least, maintain a solid friendship.”
