Hilary Duff scores a great role as Bonnie in the Bonnie and Clyde remake and immediately she gets heat from the original, Faye Dunaway.
Now, Hilary Duff is fighting back and taking no prisoners. “I think that my fans that are going to go see the movie don’t even know who she is,” Hilary Duff says.
Hilary Duff then got a little personal, launching an attack at Faye Dunaway’s rumored plastic surgery obsession. “I think it was a little unnecessary, but I might be mad if I looked like that now too.”
Seeing as Dunaway has achieved iconic status in many Hollywood minds, it is commendable that Duff, still in her starlet stage, would take her on in a battle of words. Dunaway earned raves and an Oscar nomination for her starring turn in Mommie Dearest, but it is her role as Bonnie that she is most known.
The original Bonnie, Faye Dunaway, did not hold back on her opinion of Hilary Duff stepping into her shoes. The quote that began the feud: “Couldn’t they at least cast a real actress?”
For the former Disney queen to launch a return attack on a three-time Oscar nominee, we say ‘cheers.’ Duff and many other current actresses are busting boundaries of what was once thought possible.
If Anne Hathaway had stuck to playing princesses, she would not today be known as an Academy Award nominated actress. Go Hilary!
