Medium and Patricia Arquette get tense

Medium and Patricia Arquette keep up their stellar season encountering more challenging spirits than ever. Over in Florida, the CSI: Miami crew get a visit from Sean Combs.

We adore Medium and Patricia Arquette, but also Chelsea Lately has lately gotten our fancy. It’s the only show on TV that makes me laugh so hard my sides ache. She tells it like it is, no punches pulled and I adore that. Check her out on E! I used to love Friday Night Lights but this season is already boring me. I couldn’t even make it through Friday’s episode. Sad, really. I was a diehard supporter in season one but the spark is gone.

Lie to Me also dropped a few points in my ratings book this week. I like the episode about a NASA pilot who crashes a plane and a murdered private school girl, but all of the episodes are starting to sound alike. The gimmick was cool in the first two weeks but I’m growing tired of it, which is funny because the lighter version, The Mentalist, still works for me. I’ll give it another couple of weeks.

I still have Bones and Smallville from last week but I keep finding myself pulled in to old NCIS reruns. What’s that all about?

While I ponder the mystery, you take a look at what’s on TV tonight.

Tonight On TV — Monday, February 9

There’s an Obama presidential press conference tonight so check your local listings for the exact schedule in your area. West coasters will likely pick up an extra hour of TV at the start of the night. CBS has some of the few remaining comedies on TV today, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, more The Big Bang Theory then Sean Combs guests on CSI: Miami.

ABC goes reality TV with The Bachelor. The CW has reruns of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. Fox goes with House and 24.

NBC saves the day with Chuck, Heroes, and Medium.

Over on cable

A&E calls up the spooks in a new episode of Paranormal State.

ABCFamily is all new with the Secret Life and Kyle XY.

E!’s Fashion Police takes on The Grammys.

TNT knows drama (with some laughs sprinkled in) with new episodes of The Closer and Trust Me.

News and notable

CBS gave the green light to several pilots this week including:

Big D, about a New York couple who move to Dallas.

A medical drama from Jerry Bruckheimer called Miami Trauma.

Three Rivers, a medical series about organ donors.

The Good Wife is about a politician’s wife who goes to work for a DA.

Accidentally on Purpose features a movie critic who becomes pregnant “accidentally.”

Waiting to Die about two deadheads who don’t realize how bad they have it. (Didn’t Fox have a sitcom like this? It was the name of the family, something like The Rottens…)
