Joshua Radin has a Valentine’s Day gift for all you lovers out there – a download of his most romantic ballad yet.
Fall in Love, again and again
Joshua Radin’s sophomore album Simple Times was sitting at the top spot on the iTunes album chart, less than a week after being released. Now, Radin’s new album is available on iTunes and as a special bonus; the artist released a few extra tracks as part of his Simple Times Deluxe Edition. These tracks are available on iTunes through Valentines Day.
Featured on almost every television network’s late night show, the low-key musician is playing what’s inside for those taking the time to listen. Produced by Elliot Smith collaborator Rob Schnapf, Radin’s new album is a dance in the dark with an old soul.
When Zach Braff (Scrubs) was bragging to Ellen DeGeneres about his college buddy’s budding talent, he probably didn’t realize he was sending musician Joshua Radin straight into the arms of his new number one fan. Following two appearances on her daytime talk show, DeGeneres approached Radin to perform Today as a surprise for her bride-to-be, Portia de Rossi, at their August nuptials.
“I thought she was kidding at first, but I wound up playing during the ceremony. It was pretty amazing.” Radin said in an interview with Billboard last November.
Needless to say, if Portia is getting a mix tape for Valentine’s Day, you better believe Radin will be at the top.
Getting the sad out
Besides having a voice nothing short of easy on the ears, the 30-something musician has stayed true to himself and his music. Following heartbreak in 2004, the former aspiring screenwriter started writing songs. “I had to get the sad out,” Radin said when quoted by Rolling Stone.
Radin gets a leg up
Impressed by Radin’s first demo, Winter, Braff introduced the subdued song to the producer of Scrubs in 2004; who subsequently featured the tune on an episode titled My Screw Up.
Later, Radin’s Closer, Today, Don’t Look Away and These Photographs were featured on the NBC hit comedy as well.
Before Radin could catch his breath, the Ohio-native had music featured on the popular primetime shows, Grey’sAnatomy, AmericanIdol and One Tree Hill. Most recently, Brand New Day, a song off Radin’s new release, was featured at the end of the February 2, 2009 episode of House.
Radin tastes something sweet
Released on iTunes in September of 2008, Radin’s sophomore album Simple Times is a testament to the songwriter’s ability as a musician. The album features acoustic strumming, a soft twang and some recognizable female vocals such as Meiko (Sky) and Patty Griffin (You Got Growing Up to Do).
