American Idol judges made their first save, bringing Matt Giraud back from the brink. Simon said it best when he commented that the decision really didn’t matter because Matt Giraud is not likely to win American Idol.
The more I think about it, the more I realize how dumb this “save” option really is. Next week, two people go home to keep the numbers right, so really, what have they gained? Is it simply another week for Matt? Of course, if he doesn’t get sent home next week, then the save really will have made a difference. It should be interesting.
On the show’s guest star roster last night was Jennifer Hudson, looking as lovely as ever, and Miley Cyrus. Her, I do not get. Someone tell me what the appeal is? Zac Efron was in the front row, there to promote his new movie 17 Again. At the very end of the night, a shot of the judging desk showed Zac in the background. Someone came over and stuck his hand in Zac’s jacket. I’m hoping this was the sound guy retrieving a mic pack and not a crazed pickpocket too fast for the naked eye to see. Did anyone else catch that?

Last night was the final elimination before going abroad on America’s Next Top Model. The top six are off to Brazil after an interesting challenge in which they had to steal the scene from the lovely Ciara. London, sadly, is destined to stay in the US of A. Her weight gain, which was very noticeable in the recent photos, coupled with her lack of confidence over same got her booted. Personally, I can’t believe Allison is still in this. She’s such a one-look wonder.I’ll ponder. You keep reading.
Tonight On TV: Thursday, April 16
ABC is for the ladies tonight with In the Motherhood, Samantha Who?, then reruns of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. CBS goes for thrills with a new Survivor and a very sci-fi CSI, while someone else bites the big one on Harper’s Island. The CW has repeats of Smallville and Supernatural. FOX has another new Bones, this one about a death in a heavy metal band. That’s followed by Hell’s Kitchen. NBC is all new with My Name is Earl, Parks and Recreation, The Office and 30 Rock, wrapping it all up with a dramatic hour of Southland.

We regular folks aren’t the only ones with money woes, E! looks at Cash & Burn: Celebrity Money Meltdowns.The Millionaire Matchmaker goes to work on Bravo tonight. Ace of Cakes is new on The Food Network. Making the Band and Taking the Stage are both new on MTV.

Oxygen has announced their slate of new shows, which includes Dance Your Ass Off, a dance/weight-loss competition show with Marissa Jaret Winokur; Addicted to Beauty, a docu-drama about a spa; and The Naughty Kitchen with Chef Blythe Beck.In addition, Oxygen is in development on Celeb-U-Moms, a docu-drama about famous moms that follows Keshia Knight Pulliam and her boyfriend-business partner. Mr & Mrs. Makeover has Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott hosting an unusual makeover show.Lifetime has begun casting for season seven of Project Runway now that the courts have cleared them to air the show.TBS has ordered a new animated series from the folks behind Family Guy.
