Taylor Swift cleaned up at the Country Music Television Awards. Swift’s star power appears to have just begun its rise.
Winning Best Female Video and Best Video for her mega-hit Love Story, we can only imagine the headliner of her blockbuster Fearless tour has no intentions of slowing down! Last year, she snagged the same statues for her video, Our Song.
In Swift’s “thank you” speech, she specifically thanked supporters by saying, “Thank you to the fans that come out to my shows.”
She also thanked her inspirations. “I want to thank Shania Twain for always making such theatrical videos,” she said, “and Garth Brooks for always putting the fans first. I take my cues from you.”
Swift also joined the all-star lineup that included the likes of Zachary Quinto and T-Pain for a pre-taped opening. Maybe they were trying to outdo the MTV Awards? Maybe not. Nevertheless, Swift — or perhaps we should say “T-Swizzle” — attempted to make a rap video for her hit Love Story. Try Thug Story instead.
Swift right now has mojo, musical talent and, most of all, respect. The Washington Post just this week said she’s “pop without the tart,” and her show made clear exactly why she’s viewed as a star with “some serious staying power.”
After she took in the countless screaming, adoring fans and mouthed the words “Oh my God” during her concert, she told audiences it was the most beautiful night of her entire life. Something tells us she’ll have more beautiful nights in her future. Go, Swift, go!
