Nia Vardalos portrays Genevieve in I Hate Valentine’s Day. Although the film does not sound it, I Hate Valentine’s Day is a romantic comedy and more importantly, it re-teams Vardalos with her My Big Fat Greek Wedding co-star John Corbett.
SheKnows has been given the exclusive premiere for I Hate Valentine’s Day movie poster debut. Stay tuned for more coverage of this delightful looking film.
In I Hate Valentine’s Day, Vardalos’ Genevieve loves the idea of romance. She should, she owns a flower store called “Roses for Romance.”
Vardalos’ Genevieve lives in Brooklyn, New York and although she can create romantic mastery with flowers, she is not so fortunate with the gifts of love.
She has been hurt many times and decided that for her, there will be no more dating.
As is always the case, she meets a guy (Corbett) and although he is humorous and handsome, remember, Genevieve will not fall in love!
A friendship develops and Genevieve begins to wonder why this catch has not been caught. It then becomes obvious: the man is terrible around women.
I Hate Valentine’s Day is a romantic comedy from the fantastically funny mind of Nia Vardalos. Reuniting with John Corbett is only one aspect of the great casting. From Amir Arison to Rachel Dratch and Jay O. Sanders, Vardalos is directing a group of actors well versed in romantic humor.
Vardalos also wrote the screenplay, as she did with My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
I Hate Valentine’s Day opens July 3 in theaters and will be also available via IFC On Demand beginning July 1.
