Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson dead: two icons, one day

With Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson dying on the same day, for fans around the world, June 25, 2009 will forever be marked with sadness and grief. What are the tragic odds that we would lose Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett — two icons — in the very same day? We lost an angel and a king.

Earlier today of course
everyone heard about the sad news that Farrah Fawcett, Charlie’s Angel icon had succumbed to her battle of cancer. Then, in
a shocking twist of fate the fifty year-old pop icon, Michael Jackson after he stopped breathing in his home.

Farrah’s Legacy

Where shall we begin? As we can imagine Hollywood is pausing for a moment, paying their respects today, so are we. First, considering her career began in 1969 and continued through recent years,
Farrah Fawcett has been a staple in not only entertainment but in pop culture as well. As her career took off, Farrah’s famous poster in a red bathing suit did as well and sold more than 8
million copies.

Known most for her private investigator role on Charlie’s Angels, she catapulted to fame as a household name. Known as America’s sweetheart in the ’70s, much to fans
dismay Fawcett left the show as it literally was at its peak. Although her determination to pursue a movie career didn’t quite leave such a lasting mark as she did on Angels, no doubt she
made an impact during her prime.

King of Pop

When you think about it, how many Michael Jackson songs are ubiquitous? You remember dancing around to Thriller, right? And
Billie Jean, too? And how about Man in the Mirror? Or what about the Jackson 5 with the disco type, feel good tunes like ABC?

For a man possessed with so much talent, as much as he off-air life endeavors may have seemed a little extreme, he’ll always be remembered for his talent.

Apparently Michael was
busy at work prior to his collapse. Rehearsing for his comeback tour, in a few weeks he was supposed to start touring in England. No doubt it was going to be a quick sell out. To get in shape for
the performance he was training with Lou Ferrigno, star of The Incredible Hulk.

As we know now, when paramedics arrived to his house he was unresponsive. They performed CPR and he was then taken to the hospital wearing an oxygen mask.

As we prefer to remember him for his remarkable career rather than his sudden death, there is no doubt countless fans and even musicians can refer to his music career as an inspiration in music and
most of all, in life.

Rest in peace, Farrah. Rest in peace, Michael. And please bring on June 26 — June 25 needs to come to a close already.
