It’s Friday and Disney has an all-star party on deck starring Hannah Montana and then gather the kids for a full night on TBS. The network will program every Saturday night this summer with a family movie followed by new episodes of The Bill Engvall Show.
Rocking set visit
Yesterday, I spent the entire afternoon surrounded by Cassidys! Shaun, David, Ryan and Patrick were all on hand to chat and pose for pictures while they worked on an episode of their new series
Ruby & the Rockits. I’ll have all the scoop from the set on Tuesday when the show premieres, so stay tuned.
So You Think You Can Dance recap
I got home just in time
for So You Think You Can Dance, but it was completely anticlimactic.
The SYTYCD opening number by Wade Robson was incredible. It was like an
ethereal Kabuki dance with Melissa as an innocent fairy being pulled this way and that by evil forces. But after that it was all downhill. Nigel was missing from the panel and it may me realize how
much I enjoy seeing him every week. The reveals of the bottom two weren’t surprising and the solos looked like ones we’ve seen before. The Black Eyed Peas picked it up for a few minutes but mostly
I couldn’t even look at the screen because Cat’s dress was so ugly — like a flower sack designed by Liberace. Ugh. In the end it was Randi and Kupono who went home. Everyone is a loss at this
point, but that’s the game.
This weekend’s top TV picks:
Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana
The stars of Disney’s Channel’s biggest hits all come together when they end up on the same cruise ship. Three half-hour episodes of Hannah
Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place and The Suite Life on Deck all intersect for one rocking Disney party.
Watch Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana Friday at 8:00 on Disney.
The Bill Engvall Show
Bill Engvall returns tonight with a whole new season of family-centered laughs. TBS is airing two new episodes back-to-back, first Bill has
to tell Lauren that they can’t afford to send her on Spring Break, so she gets a job so she can pay for it herself. Then Bill goes comforter shopping after he realizes that Susan is making all of
the decisions for the family.
Watch The Bill Engvall Show Saturday at 9:00 on TBS.
The AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Michael Douglas
Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty,
Annette Bening, Tobey Maguire, and Martin Sheen are just a few of the celebs you’ll see at this black tie gala in honor of Michael Douglas.
So put on your best red-carpet gown and break out the champagne because you’re invited to the party.

HGTV’s Design Stars

and they’re going to expect bigger and better things from this brand new crop of contestants.
Watch HGTV’s Design Stars Sunday at 10:00 on HGTV.
News and notable
NBC yanked The Listener from the Thursday night schedule, replacing it with reruns of Law & Order. This spot seems to be cursed, as Parenthood was due to fill it in
the fall, but had to be postponed due to the star’s medical issues. This has left hospital drama Mercy scrambling to get episodes in the can so they can take the slot.
John Goodman has signed on to star in the new Fox comedy The Station. However, the plot doesn’t sound even remotely funny, revolving around a CIA coup in Central America. Hilarious!
The Emmy Award nominations were announced this week. Many of the usual suspects received a nod including 30 Rock, The Office and Entourage, but surprisingly, so did
Family Guy. Actors to be honored include Sally Field, Kyra
Sedgwick, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Hugh Laurie, Simon Baker and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The awards will air on September 20 on CBS.
