So You Think You Can Dance has chosen a winner: Jeanine Mason!
As overwhelmed as
she was by the announcement, she still had the presence of mind to make a joke about winning an award at the Kodak, the home of the Oscars. She seems like a sweet girl and she deserved the
win… but don’t worry, Evan: You’re still my personal favorite.
For me, the highlight of the So You Think You Can Dance
finale was the performance of One from AChorus Line. In a final twist to the number, the dancers flipped their full-length mirrors to reveal Tyce, Mia, Nigel,
Mary, Adam Shankman and Debbie Allen all done up in costume. The six pranced their way in true Broadway style up to the red carpet at the front of the stage, where they each struck a perfectly
timed pose. I love a show in which the choreographers are as popular as the dancers. My only question: Why didn’t panelist Little C dance in the final number?
All in all, it was a great night of dance, and we don’t even have to wait a whole year to do it again. For the first time ever, So You Think You Can Dance will have a fall season, and it
begins in just a few weeks.
I need to rest from all the excitement. You stay here and take a look at what’s on this weekend.
Weekend’s top TV picks:
Monk (Friday, 9:00 USA)
It’s the season premiere of Monk’s eighth and final season. The showrunners promise that all your questions will be answered as this popular detective takes on the case of his life. But
tonight, Monk plays bodyguard to a former child star who is in danger, thanks to the publication of a tell-all book.
Don’t miss our interview with Monk himself here!
Psych (Friday, 10:00 USA)
The boys are back for a fourth season that has Shawn and Gus in an old-fashioned Western showdown and facing off with a exorcist and a demon. In the season opener, the duo encounters a notorious
art thief (Cary Elwes) while on the ski slopes of Vancouver.
Chef vs City (Friday, 10:00 Food Network)
The Food Network’s newest show has Aaron Sanchez and Chris Cosentino traveling around the country to compete against the best of the best in local cuisine.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire? (Sunday, 8:00 ABC)
The popular game show is back for a short, 11-night run in honor of the show’s 10th anniversary. Regis Philbin will be sitting in the quizmaster’s seat, but this time he’ll be facing off with
celebs trying to win money for their favorite charities. Tonight, it’s Katy Perry. Later this week, you’ll see Vanessa Williams, Rachael
Ray, Shawn Johnson and many more.
Shark Tank (Sunday, 9:00 ABC)
An idea might be brilliant, but making a dream a reality takes money. On Shark Tank, budding entrepreneurs have a chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of self-made multimillionaires in
hopes of receiving funding for their businesses.
Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew (Sunday, 9:00 MTV)
The dance crews are back, and they’re bigger and badder (in a good way) than ever. Nine new groups are competing for the title, and they kick it all off with a 90-minute special that will leave you
breathless!
Don’t miss our interview with Lil’ Mama next week!
There Goes the Neighborhood (Sunday, 9:00 CBS)
In a rather perplexing new game show, a neighborhood is walled off, leaving eight families to fend for themselves with no outside contact. Each week, they must compete in a series of family
challenges in which one family will be eliminated. Did you ever see the Twilight Zone episode called The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street? It’s kind of like that, only without the
murders (I hope).
