Chris Brown receives five years probation for beating Rihanna.
Brown’s sentence was tougher than Rihanna’s lawyers had asked for. The judge handed him five years’ probation, six months’ community labor
and issued a five-year restraining order.
LA Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said Brown will be sent to a state prison if he violates his probation or comes within 100 yards from Rihanna, with the exception of industry events they
both must attend.
No Brown & Rihanna reunion!
Judge Schnegg apparently reads the tabloids and knows Rihanna and Chris Brown have been spotted together.
“I am not amused with the chatter that has been on the airwaves and any violation of your probation in this case comes with the potential for state prison,” Schnegg told Brown.
Brown’s community portion of his sentence must be physical labor, ruled the judge. He will also undergo a year of domestic violence counseling. Why such a tough sentence?
The judge knew more than we did. The probation report prepared for the hearing states Brown became violent with Rihanna two times before
the pre-Grammy beating that caused his arrest.
In the first, occurring three months before the February incident, Brown shoved Rihanna into a wall during an argument while the couple was traveling in Europe. During the second, Brown punched out
the front and passenger side windows of a Range Rover in a fit of anger while the couple was visiting Rihanna’s family in Barbados.
Rihanna did not attend the sentencing hearing. Brown was accompanied by his mother and agreed to the terms of the sentence.
