Nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards have officially been announced. The SAG Awards reveal continues an exciting week in Hollywood. Sure, months ago it seemed we were constantly reporting about celebrity deaths ranging from Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett to Patrick Swayze.
Now that it’s year-end, SheKnows Entertainment is proud to be reporting about all that glimmers in Tinseltown. It’s Awards Season and we begin this year’s journey December
15 with the Golden Globe Nominations announcement.
As for the faves for the SAG awards? Up in the Air, Precious
and Inglourious Basterds each raked in three nominations. The Hurt Locker and Nine both earned two noms.
There are five motion picture categories such as Outstanding Performance by a Cast and interestingly enough, one single movie did not dominate all five categories.
Films recognized for their casts included An Education, The Hurt Locker, InglouriousBasterds, Nine, and Precious. Although Precious
was not recognized in a Best Motion Picture category, the other four flicks were included in this category.
In other news, the highly anticipated James Cameron motion picture, Avatar, was shut out in every single category.
Avatar, however, did snag four nominations for the Golden Globe Awards.
It’s no surprise when you look at the category of Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role: George Clooney leads the pack with Up in the Air. Colin Firth, Morgan
Freeman, Jeff Bridges and Jeremy Renner were also nominated in this category. As for actresses, Sandra Bullock, Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep and Gabourey Sidibe earned nominations.
