Throw a Grammy Awards party

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards show takes place on January 31st. Host a low-key get-together with family and close friends to watch the high-energy performances on music’s biggest night. Here are our top Grammy Awards party tips and recipes.

Set the Grammy Awards party theme

Setting the tone of your Grammy Awards party is easy with stylish and edgy music-themed decorations. Hang posters of Grammy-nominated artists on the walls, and string plastic decorative records and musical notes from the ceiling. Gold and black are the traditional colors for the evening, so decorate your home with gold and black balloons and streamers, and use plastic plates, spoons and utensils.

Play Grammy Awards Music and Games

Music is a must at your Grammy Awards party. Download all the Grammy-nominated songs and play them as your guests arrive and settle in. Later, you can use the songs for a Grammy Awards game: Play a few seconds of a song and have your guests try to guess the artist and title. You can even download songs of past Grammy-nominated artists and winners to make the game more challenging. Visit Grammy.com for music and artist information.

Serve Grammy Awards Food and Drinks

Finger foods are fun. Further impress your guests by giving classic appetizer foods an update.

For example, serve sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, or make kicked-up deviled eggs with crabmeat. Even dips can be transformed: Make a BLT dip or sun-dried tomato dip instead of tired old ranch. Pair dips with plenty of fresh vegetables, chips and crackers.

Update your Grammy Awards cocktails, too. In place of traditional drinks, mix some newfangled concoctions with flavored vodkas, unusual liqueurs and flavored mixers. Because your party is on a Sunday night, you might consider serving a virgin cocktail or two for the guests who have early Monday morning schedules.
