The Golden Globes will reveal their 2010 award-winners January 17 with a star-studded event that from its presenter list alone, promises to head to the top of the event’s six-decade history.
The 2010 Golden Globes predictions are in and when it comes to 2009 movies — SheKnows Entertainment is going out on a limb to call the Golden Globe winners!
Who will win:Up in the Air
Why: This is Up in the Air’s year. There is a slew of contenders and although they are all glorious, some of them Inglouriously so, but when it comes down to the Hollywood Foreign Press who put on this little shindig, they love a film that covers travel, emotional revelation and character growth beyond compare. Up in the Air will have a big night.

Who will win: Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
Why: This is Sandy’s year. No two ways about it and the Golden Globe for her stellar performance as Leigh Anne Tuohy is the Hollywood Foreign Press’ way of rewarding a film that is the international feel-good movie of the year.
Actor, Drama: Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart; George Clooney, Up in the Air; Colin Firth, A Single Man; Morgan Freeman, Invictus; Tobey Maguire, Brothers
Who will win: Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
Why: I know, moments ago, this reporter said it was going to be a big night for Up in the Air, but in this category, Jeff Bridges is riding a wave of award-winning buzz not seen, well, since 2009 with Mickey Rourke and The Wrestler.
Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy:(500) Days of Summer; The Hangover; It’s Complicated; Julie & Julia; Nine
Who will win:The Hangover
Why: Trying to appear hip, The Golden Globes will have to award one of the top-earning comedies of all time under the banner of Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy!
Actress, Musical or Comedy: Sandra Bullock, The Proposal; Marion Cotillard, Nine; Julia Roberts, Duplicity; Meryl Streep, It’s Complicated; Meryl Streep, Julie & Julia
Who will win: Meryl Streep will win, the question is…for which film? Julie & Julia is the moniker the presenter will emit after reading Streep’s name because when it comes to capturing real people, there are performances and there are caricatures. In Julie & Julia, Streep captures the essence of an American icon while still injecting her trademark brilliance.
Actor, Musical or Comedy: Matt Damon, The Informant!; Daniel Day-Lewis, Nine; Robert Downey Jr, Sherlock Holmes; Joseph Gordon-Levitt, (500) Days of Summer; Michael Stuhlbarg, A Serious Man
Who will win: Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Why:(500) Days of Summer is a charming exploration of the journey of love in the new century. At the heart of the charm is Gorden-Levitt.
Who will win: Mo’Nique may be a favorite to win the Oscar, but here at The Golden Globes, they will use another opportunity to celebrate Up in the Air. The question in this category then becomes which Up in the Air actress. The winner by an inch: Farmiga for her exquisite performance across a legend in George Clooney. If there is an upset at this year’s Golden Globes, look for dark horse Anna Kendrick to be rewarded for her successful year of Up in the Air and The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Actor, Supporting: Matt Damon, Invictus; Woody Harrelson, The Messenger; Christopher Plummer, The Last Station; Stanley Tucci, The Lovely Bones; Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds
Who will win: Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds
Why: His Nazi commander is in many ways what makes Inglourious Basterds so palpable. With Brad Pitt and his Basterds charging towards him, the audience has not cheered for a group of heroes in years.
Animated Feature:Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs; Coraline; Fantastic Mr. Fox; The Princess and the Frog; Up
Who will win:Up
Why: Pixar does it again and again and again and why we are surprised with each successive smash that also touches the heart is a testament to the brilliance of the web that the studio weaves. Ed Asner gets the biggest hit of his career and Up will also be far from finished with winning awards with season.
Who will win: Jason Reitman, Up in the Air
Why: This is by far, the toughest category of the 2010 Golden Globes. Each director deserves the award equally. Seriously, image any of the nominated films without the individual that helmed it. In any other year, the award for Best Director would go to Bigelow, Tarantino or Eastwood. The battle here for the Golden Globe truly comes down to Up in the Air’s Reitman and Cameron for Avatar. The Golden Globe will go to Reitman for no other reason than he crafted a brilliant film and he is an up-and-coming talent at the end of the day. The Golden Globes adore rewarding those exact artists and in the Best Director category, it is their chance. Plus, there’s always the Best Picture-Best Director connection. Most films and their directors share an evening of victory.
