Steal the Oscar look: The makeup
Most of the celebrities on the red carpet have picture-perfect makeup. If you are attending a special event and want your makeup to look just right, take some tips from the stars.
Start with a good foundation
Foundation evens out your skin tone and achieves a creamy, flawless complexion. Use a foundation that is right for your skin type and apply concealer with a tiny brush to hide imperfections.
Don’t overdo it
For a look that is natural yet glamorous, accentuate just one feature. For example, if you are going to concentrate on the eyes, keep your lip and cheek colors more subtle.
Steal Kate Winslet’s look
At the 2009 Oscars, Kate Winslet looked gorgeous wearing a beautiful Yves Saint Laurent gown as she took home the Best Actress award for The Reader. Her makeup was created by Jillian Dempsey. Dempsey started off by applying a primer (Le Base Pro Makeup Primer, $42) to create a smooth canvas. For Kate’s beautifully dramatic eyes, she used Lancôme Modèle Sourcils Brow Groomer in Naturel ($21), Avon Pro Eyeshadow Trio in Ice Shimmer ($9) and Avon Pro Mascara in Black ($9.50). For the lips, Dempsey used Lancôme Color Fever Lipstick in Old Flame — a sheer, matte, soft color that is pretty without being overwhelming.
