Brooke Mueller has checked herself into rehab, putting the case of Aspen prosecutors against Charlie Sheen at risk.
Brooke checked into The Canyon rehab facility in Malibu last Tuesday, a day after Charlie was arraigned on both felony and misdemeanor charges in Aspen. On Christmas morning, Brooke called 911 claiming Charlie had held a knife to her throat and threatened her life. She had been drinking before she made the call, and an alcohol problem could damage her credibility in court.
A source close to the couple told Radar, “It was just more of the same with Brooke. Her mother had been begging her to go into rehab. It got to the point where even Charlie told her to go to rehab because of their kids. She had one final party, drinking pretty heavily, and Charlie was with her part of the time. But when he left it didn’t stop. The next day she was in bad, bad shape and that’s when she went into rehab.”
Brooke was at a treatment facility in North Carolina earlier this year for what her lawyer said was recuperation from pneumonia. She has been to rehab before for both alcohol and crack addictions, and has been arrested for cocaine possession and DUI. Charlie’s struggles with drugs and alcohol are legendary, but he was supposed to be on the wagon and even had a sobriety coach with him in on Christmas. He too was found to have alcohol in his system when police arrived at the Aspen rental home.
If Sheen is convicted he will face prison time in Colorado.
