Rihanna has finally come clean about dating Los Angeles Dodger Matt Kemp! With a concert tour, bachelorette party for Katy Perry and drum lessons on the agenda, however, the Rude Boy singer has tons on her plate. So for now, Rihanna reports that the new couple is keeping things light.
“He’s my boyfriend,” Rihanna told Ryan Seacrest during a KIIS FM interview this morning.
While this is the first official confirmation, the pairing isn’t exactly news. Rihanna and Kemp first caught our attention when they were spotted together in Mexico back in January. Word is, they also rang in the New Year in Dubai.
In February, Kemp hosted her surprise 22nd birthday-fest, and they’ve taken the romance courtside for some basketball action.
A few weeks ago, Star even reported that Rihanna and Kemp were moving in together, and only a few days ago, rumors were swirling that that couple was engaged. It sounds like sources jumped the gun on both those stories, however.
“It’s new, and it’s fun, and it’s nothing too serious,” Rihanna told Seacrest. “I don’t want anything that’s gonna take up so much of my energy and time right now in a bad way. I just wanna have fun, and that’s what it’s about.”
The hit-maker certainly has more on her mind and her agenda than love. While prepping to hit the road for her Last Girl On Earth North American tour with Ke$ha on July 2, she’s been learning to play the drums from Blink-182’s Travis Barker.
She also has yet another new single, Rockstar 101, to promote, so she donned a black cat suit April 7 to perform on American Idol‘s results show.
Amid all this, she’s also been tasked with planning the bachelorette party for gal pal Katy Perry, who is set to marry Russell Brand later this year.
“She put that on me last week,” she revealed. “Now I have to come up with something cool ’cause she’s getting married in India. I’m like, ‘Now what do I do to match that for a bachelorette party?'”
After last year’s drama with Chris Brown, the Rude Boy hit machine certainly deserves some fun and romance. Congrats!
