Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski split

by

Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski have split and just as we were considering applying for the Bachelor ourselves in the hopes they’d annoint either Frank or Chris the next Bachelor, we’re having second thoughts.

It all began with Monday night’s very nasty, public showdown between Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi on a Chris Harrison-hosted very special Bachelor follow-up.

But no one was flying on any wings of love. Those two brought fists of fury instead and, by the end, we were convinced that Jake Pavelka has human skin stashed in his freezer. He was so creepy and calculated, very serial killer. We might have loathed her during the show but we’re Team Vienna all the way now.

Then there was the preview for next week’s Bachelorettethat shows our favorite geek chic stud muffin Frank reuniting with his ex-girlfriend during the hometown visits and ditching Ali Fedotowsky when he gets to Tahiti. Ice cold!

And now former Bachelorette Jillian Harris and her fiance Ed Swiderski have parted ways, not that we’re surprised given the rumors of Swiderski’s cheating which have plagued the pair since they first got together.

Responding to news of the split, Ed Swiderski said, “We’re both kind of resetting. Jillian isn’t happy and I’m definitely sad about the whole thing, but we’ve got to work through some things on our own if we decide to move forward.”

Hey, buddy, love isn’t a computer that you can “reset,” you don’t hit control-alt-delete and make it all better.

Jillian Harris also spoke out, saying, “I love [Ed] and I’m really sad, but I have to look out for me.”

Yikes. She makes it sound like Ed Swiderski was the bad guy in the breakup which leads us to wonder if his wandering ways, which included relationships with two women while he was on the show, never simmered down.

Oh, TV love, why must you be so elusive?

In 14 seasons ofThe Bachelor, only one couple has survived — Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney. And that wedding was a super quickie affair less than a year after they got together which was reportedly inspired by ABC’s insistence that the two tie the knot for a tidy little sum and the promise of more TV exposure.

On The Bacheloretteside, first season couple Trista and Ryan Sutter are the only surviving match the show has generated in six attempts, including the most recent season with Ali Fedotowsky, who reportedly does get engaged at the end of the show (our money is on Roberto for the win).

Maybe we won’t send that application in after all.
