Alice Tan Ridley spent years crooning in the New York City subways, but on July 21 the hardworking mother of breakout star Gabourey Sidibe, proved good things come to those who wait. Alice Tan Ridley advanced into the semi-final round of America’s Got Talent July 21.
Alice Tan Ridley performed a powerhouse version of Midnight Train To Georgia on the live performance show, which brought her high praise from all the judges including her daughter.
“I’m really proud and really happy for her,” Gabourey Sidibe expressed to Access Hollywood.
Alice Tan Ridley may be winning America over on America’s Got Talent, but to Gabourey Sidibe she’s still just mom.
“It’s weird that she’s kind of blooming and blossoming a bit, but like, that’s just my mom and that’s what she’s always been doing and so she just has a wider audience now,” Gabourey gushed.
Alice Tan Ridley may have supported her daughter at the Academy Awards, but something tells me the roles might be reversed from here on out.
