Selena Gomez turned 18 and celebrates with the release of Ramona and Beezus on July 23.

Let’s hear it for the birthday girl, Selena Gomez! Selena Gomez turned 18 July 22, and she’s got extra cause for celebration. Selena Gomez’s first big movie, Ramona and Beezus arrives in theaters July 23.

Ramona and Beezus is, of course, based on the popular books by Beverly Cleary about a pair of sisters who get into all sorts of mischief and adventures. The film also stars Sex and the City 2 actor John Corbett.

Selena Gomez plays big sister Beezus, while 10-year-old actress Joey King plays little sister Ramona.

On the evening of July 22, Selena Gomez was treated to a gigantic birthday cupcake backstage before her appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Reportedly, Selena Gomez’s family has a huge BBQ bash planned to help the Disney star celebrate her big day.

In attendance will be her on-screen little sister, Joey King, with whom Selena Gomez has formed a tight bond. Selena Gomez and Joey King raved that they’ve become like sisters in real life.
