Emmy Award voters: Did they get it right?

The 2010 Emmy Awards are over and we put our stamp of approval on this year’s Emmy winners’ circle. But, the biggest surprise of the night may have been just how fun the Emmy Awards were, thanks to host Jimmy Fallon!

Even those of us who never miss an awards show can admit they can get a bit boring sometimes. TV-lover Jimmy Fallon promised to shake things up at this year’s Emmys and while Ricky Gervais may have stolen the show, Fallon and team succeeded in creating a killer night.

Of course, the Emmy Awards are about the awards and SheKnows has to admit, we liked what we saw.

Modern Family‘s Emmy love was certainly no surprise. Though some reviewers count Eric Stonestreet’s win as Cameron on Modern Family as a shocker, SheKnows saw it coming. His costar Ty Burrell and Glee‘s Chris Colfer are fantastic, but Stonestreet has been getting the behind the scenes industry love.

America has also fallen in love with Comedy Actress winner Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester) and Glee, so those wins were to be expected. As for Jim Parsons, he was the only one at the show who looked surprised by his win for Lead Actor in a Comedy.

We can’t argue with the drama line-up, even if it does feel like the same run as last year. Mad Men‘s big win was expected, while Kyra Sedgwick was a nice new addition.

Viewers who don’t watch Breaking Bad, may have been surprised by Bryan Cranston’s win and the rise of Aaron Paul, but the AMC series is a critical darling and those who do tune in were nodding in agreement.

The same can be said for The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi. SheKnows can admit we didn’t see it coming, but she certainly has the chops.

HBO swept the movie and miniseries categories, but with names like Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Al Pacino in the mix, what did we expect?

Overall, SheKnows thinks the Emmy voters’ choices made sense, but we do have a few small bones to pick.

Admittedly, The Daily Show deserved to continue its reign, but we expected and also hoped to see Conan O’Brien take the stage for his short-lived Tonight Show. And where was the love for Lost and Friday Night Lights?
