Zack Snyder has a talent for bringing the visual effects of a film to the point of awe-inspiration without them overwhelming a strong story. In Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, the director of Watchmen is working from a world so vivid, it is almost blinding.
Good thing the film that arises from the magical mind of author Kathryn Lasky is in 3D!
Soren is a young owl with dreams of flying high. His father has filled his head with adventurous tales of their ancestors.
Owls: Who are you?
In the past, the entire species of owls were threatened by a group who called themselves the Pure Ones.
It is an elite group of owls, the Guardians of Ga’Hoole, who fought back against the Pure Ones and ensured a future for owls everywhere. Needless to say, Soren’s dreams are firmly in the realm of becoming a Guardian.
Soren’s older brother, on the other hand, is motivated by greed, jealousy and short-sightedness.
Kludd’s sole goal is winning his father’s favor and pushing the family’s first heir out of the way. It is when the Pure Ones enter the picture once again that the film showcases Soren’s strength.
He escapes to begin the battle against the Pure Ones and thus begins the thunderous footsteps of the drama in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.
