Turns out Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino won’t be trademarking his nickname after all.
The ab-tastic Jersey Shoresuper-male recently filed a request with the US Patent and Trademark Office to put his stamp on “The Situation.” The application to trademark the now famous nickname for marketing purposes pertaining to “The Situation” clothing line was all in vain.
The Smoking Gun website dug up documents confirming the US Patent and Trademark Office denied Mike Sorrentino’s application.
So what’s the situation on “The Situation?” It turns out a Memphis clothing company already snatched up the name. Allegedly a government attorney said the efforts to overturn the decision were “unpersuasive.”
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s legal eagles are claiming, “The presence of the article ‘The’ is a key component of the mark, as it refers specifically to Mr Sorrentino, and is reflective of how the term is used when applied to Mr Sorrentino.”
Sorrentino let the world in on his fashion dreams when he announced his plans to partner with retailer Dilligaf by Bohica Bill back in June.
“Mike ‘The Situation’ embodies our irreverent approach to life,” president Jodi Massry told UsMagazine.com in a statement. “He lives the ‘let’s not take things so seriously’ mentality every day.”
Trademarked or not, his six-pack abs will be all over ABC when he takes on the eleventh season of Dancing With the Stars.
