Eminem doesn’t trust anyone and finds it impossible to meet anyone new or go out on dates, he told Rolling Stone.
Eminem, who is featured on the cover of the December issue of Rolling Stone looking like a Sith, says a combination of fame and his recovery from drug addiction have left him distrustful, alone and unable to date.
“I came out of some difficult things these past couple of years,” Eminem said, referring to his addiction to Vicodin, Ambien, Valium and methadone.
“I kind of feel like I’m just now finding my footing. So I want to make sure that’s secure before I go out and do anything else. I need to keep working on myself for a while.”
Fame has come at a steep price for Eminem. Winning 11 Grammys has done nothing for his social life — in fact, his celebrity has made him distrustful of would-be friends and virtually unable to date.
“I have trust issues. With women, friends, whatever. You always wonder what their real motives are. I’ve got a small circle of friends, and it’s a lot of the same friends I’ve known forever. Right now, that works for me,” Eminem said.
“As far as going out, like dinner and a movie — I just can’t. Going out in public is just too crazy. I mean, I’d like to be in a relationship again someday. Who doesn’t? It’s just hard to meet new people, in my position.”
The Eminem issue of Rolling Stone hits newsstands November 12.
