2011 Golden Globe nominations: The King’s Speech and The Fighter receive top nods

This year’s Golden Globe nominations were announced December 14 with The King’s Speech, The Social Network and The Fighter leading the pack for movie nominations.

Television and film’s brightest stars will shine during the 2011 Golden Globes on January 16, 2011, and with the awards show being the loosest of the season, there’s bound to be some fun.

The 2011 Golden Globe nominations span an elite group of Hollywood’s past, present and future, including veteran Annette Bening and current “it” girl Emma Stone, who both received nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical.

Jesse Eisenberg and his socially relevant film,The Social Network, will go head-to-head with Mark Wahlberg and The Fighterin the best drama and drama actor categories. Both films have been nominated for a total of six categories.

Over on the small screen side of the party, the Golden Globes’ golden children of Gleeproved they weren’t going anywhere with top category nods for Best TV Series and comedy, and Best Actress and Actor nominations going to Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele. Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch also nabbed nominations for their supporting roles in Glee. Modern Family, 30 Rock and Dexter will also represent their comedy and drama series during Hollywood’s wildest awards show, where you never know what will happen.
