The 2011 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced Wednesday. Which of your favorite rockers were added to the list? Read on!
The 2011 inductees into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced Wednesday and legendary musicians Tom Waits, The Alice Cooper Band, Neil Diamond and Darlene Love are the ones that walked away with the honor.
Diamond has been eligible for the honor for several years, but never received a nomination. Love had been nominated three times, but never received the honor until now.
“I thought about it occasionally, but I kind of figured they’d get around to me at some point,” the Sweet Caroline singer told the AP.
Love — best known for her hit (Today I Met) The Boy I’m Gonna Marry — was relieved to finally get inducted.
“Finally it’s done,” she added. “It still hasn’t hit me yet. I still have that nervous stomach, and I’m still excited.”
Cooper was also excited about his new place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, though he wasn’t waiting by the phone for a call.
“You know it crosses your mind, but then you think of all the guys who aren’t in there, some of them before you, and you go, ‘Wow.’ You realize that it’s a waiting game,” he said an interview. “I don’t think you sit around holding your breath on it.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Who missed out
Several other nominated groups will have to wait another year for their turn. Rockers Bon Jovi, the J. Geils Band, singer Donna Summer and rappers LL Cool J and The Beastie Boys were nominated, but didn’t make the cut.
The ceremony will be held on March 14, 2011, in New York City and air on Fuse.
