A special television reenactment of the Michael Jackson autopsy has been pulled from the Discovery Channel lineup.
The Discovery Channel planned to run a special reenacting the autopsy of Michael Jackson in the UK, setting off a firestorm of controversy and incurring the wrath of the Jackson family.
A rep for the Discovery Channel said, “Given the commencement of legal proceedings beginning next week, and at the request of Michael Jackson’s estate, the scheduled broadcast of the medical documentary related to Michael Jackson’s official autopsy has been postponed indefinitely.”
Not only did the Jackson family have a huge problem with the show, understandably, but so did the executors of Jackson’s estate and the LA County Coroner.
But more importantly, Jackson’s fans were up in arms about the special, which was scheduled to air January 13. They called the show “an affront to human dignity,” and said, “This type of sensational and unscrupulous reporting can only cause harm.”
The people have spoken — but it sounds like it was more the threat of a lawsuit that got Discovery to pull the plug on the Michael Jackson autopsy special.
